Longevity? 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Looking to purchase a replacement TIG welder to replace my old lincoln TIG welder that just went down. Has any one heard of Longevity Welding company before? I have not seen a company yet that has pricing or warranty that comes close to this company. here is the link to Longevity:

www.longevity-inc.com

here is the machine that I am interested in so far:

www.longevity-inc.com/productdetail_229/Multi-Purpose-Units/WeldAll-200PI.php

some real feedback about this company would be nice.

Thanks to everyone.

Hi There,

I own the previous version, the LS200P, from Longevity. I haven't had any problems with it. It will stick weld, TIG weld and also do plasma cutting. It is a handy unit that will do almost anything that a hobby welder could need to do. Not only is it way less expensive than the major brands, it has a great warranty, and comes with almost all the accessories you need to get started. The one additional item you will need is some method of switching between compressed air for plasma cutting and shielding gas for TIG operation. A couple ball valves and a tee fitting seems to work ok, but it would be nice if Longevity would include a three-way valve fixture for that purpose.

Thank you for replying to my post.
I have put in an order for this machine over the phone with one of Longevity's sales reps. I wound up calling back to get some more info on the ball valve after reading your post. they explained that the inlet for the gas is the same inlet for the air, because they actually run off of the same solenoid. They said, that what you have explained is the best solution for the problem, that tying in a 3 way ball valve will make it easier to switch from gas to air when need be. other than that, I will need to disconnect the hose clamp that connects it in the back and switch the lines out. It seems rather simple to me either way, because I will mainly be using the tig function on the machine. But I will pick up a 3 way valve at the hardware store for easier connect, and disconnect of the air and gas lines.

Thanks for replying to my post. I will make sure to post a review of the machine when I get it and share some projects that I work on with it.

P.S. contact Longevity by phone if you decide to ever buy from them again. the rep that I spoke to gave me a discount on the machine, discount on tungsten rods for the tig, and the consumables. His name was Jesse at ext: 202. He was knowledgeable about the machine that I was interested in which helped me make up my mind real quick, + theres a 30 day satisfaction on it.

Thanks again, you have been helpful.

The machine has been cutting and welding great. here is a cut that I made with it. I have not taken a picture of a weld yet, but I will soon for everyone.

25 amps - 1/4 inch square tubing:

OK,
I had gotten a chance to take a quick pic of a weld that I did with this machine. its not the longest or greatest weld that I have ever created but it shows the consistency of the arc. This machine will weld up to about a 3/4 inch mild steel! This weld was done without the foot pedal that came with the machine. I used pure argon gas with a 2% Thoriated tungsten rod and a carbon steel ER70S-2 filler rod. The machine was set to about 80 amps.

Hey, that is a fairly nice looking weld. It looks like you have figured out the plasma cutting function also. I'm glad you are happy with the welder. I am still learning alot about TIG welding, as I had never done TIG before. Now I just sit around and wait for the kids to break something, so I can try to fix it... I don't get on here too often, so I'm sorry for the delayed response. But I'll try to poke around more often to look at some of the projects people are working on.
Take Care,
Barry

Thanks for the compliment on the weld. This was not my first rodeo with a TIG welder as you can see, although the funtions of this TIG welder is a little more advanced than my old lincoln. I am currently inclined to stay away from the pulse mode. a little to advanced for me at the moment.
That looks like a solid stationary set up you have there Barry. I decided to go the quick connect route, being that I will be taking this machine to on site jobs. Quick connects seemed to be a more reasonable set up for my less stationary work. switching over did not seem so difficult once the quick connects were in place.

Thanks for the feed back Barry,

ED
